Name Change

Greetings

Due to some… er, legal papers that arrived on my door, I have had to change the title of the short stor CSFTS – And All That Crap.

I am amused more than anything.  Simon would be as well.

I admit that at the time I didn't give the title much thought and really didn't think that anybody searching for one of those fin CSFT books would think my humble story was part of the official franchise.

But you live and learn.  Within 48 hours it should be showing under its brand spanking new name Just Like Florence Nightingale.  I really hope that Flo's rellies don't come after me next.  Or that any old dears download it thinking it is a new biography of that sainted nurse.

So, if your stories on your kindle change all of a sudden, you know why.  And I repeat, not a new story – just a new title.

As a vegetarian, Sean doesn't eat chicken soup anyway.  If he goes for the canned variety he sticks to Campbells Rich Tomato.

The First Supper – Available Now!

The new Tigers and Devils short "The First Supper" has now gone live on Amazon.

Tiger Short-Last Supper

Meeting the parents is never easy.

Set during the timeline of
"Tigers and Devils" this short story finds Simon Murray in the midst of a
panic attack as both his and Declan Tyler's parents face each other for
the first time.

The way Simon's acting, it's bound to be a disaster…

Now, as I said before, it is available on the Kindle for $0.99, but you can also download it here for nada!  Yes, that's right, zippo!

Hope you enjoy it.

EXTRA SPECIAL HAPPY CHRISTMAS APOCALYPSE BONUS FIC

The things that get dreamt up over veggie burgers and chips…

My good friend Kris asked, on the spur of the moment, for a special Christmas gift.  She wanted a story about Declan and Simon and the upcoming apocalypse.  And I can't really refuse Kris, because she can be scary sometimes.

One could call this crack!fic, but in essence it is a very Simon and Dec story.  Because of the basis of the story, it will only be available for free here and on my website (when I get around to updating it, barring the apocalypse).  It is probably your choice to accept it as canon or not, but I think it could be.  It is set after the events of Tigerland.

I hope we all survive into tomorrow.  I am going to see the apocalypse in with some pumpkin ale.  Go out in style, I always say.

I hope you enjoy the Countdown Until the End of the World.

ETA:  Some people are having problems with the first link.  Here is another.

Put on Your Shorts

There will be a new Tigers and Devils short coming soon.  It is scheduled to publish on the 21st at Amazon, where it will be available for the minimum rate of 0.99 cents.

HOWEVER…

This is not a scam so I can buy an extra pudding for Christmas Day.  It will also be released as a PDF for free both on my journal and my website at the same time.  So you can get it there at no cost!  And that would be the better option for you, yes?  Regardless of what Simon reckons.

Entitled "The First Supper", it takes place before Simon and Declan's first Christmas, and just after Dec's dad is released from hospital.  It is a momentous occassion, where the Tyler and Murray parental units meet for the first time…

As Miranda's mother would say, SUCH FUN!

It’s Summer, so it’s time for Shorts

Yeah yeah yeah, I know you lucky people in the northern hemisphere get to have a thing called a White Christmas, but we're not so lucky here in Oz.  Christmas will be sweating into your roast vegies, and doggedly having your christmas pudding and custard despite the fact that you're going to die of heatstroke.

Anyway, I have been playing around with formatting so I can upload my short stories to different formats, and I have posted my Tigers and Devils short "Chicken Soup for the Soul, and All That Crap" to Amazon for the kindle.  Because you can't set the price at zero, it has to be at the minimum of $0.99.  This is not a scam on my behalf, as the original version will always be available on my website for zilch.  The story hasn't been altered in any way.

Anyhoo, I'll have a bit of news in a couple of days.  If you're so inclined, you can get the story for the kindle here.  It already has a one star review! HOW COULD YOU REFUSE?

An apology

So sorry, everyone.

Due to technical difficulties it looks like the Goodreads chat isn't going ahead for now.

Will let you know details of new chat time, etc, when they come to hand.

Now I guess it's time to watch Insiders and get angry about politics (again!).

Goodreads Chat

Hey, just a quick note to let you know I'm holding a Goodreads chat, in about nine hours (so I should probably get some sleep soon!), at the Dreamspinner boards. I think there, anyway.

So, official time is Saturday 7pm American Eastern Time, and Sunday 10am Australian Eastern Time.

I'll make another entry later with links, etc.

I don't think I can be held accountable for anything I say, right?

Technically….

It is release day here for Tigerland and my nails are already bitten down to the quick.

It's a worry, releasing a sequel to a book that people have told you they love – especially when they ask if there is ever going to be a second one. How can #2 live up to the first, especially when you always thought of it as a standalone book and the story as you envisioned it was told, done and dusted?

And I never ever ever thought there would be a Tigers sequel. I wasn't playing coy when I said so.  Sure, I still had Simon in my head telling me stuff, but I thought he was just keeping me updated.

But here we are now, three and a half years later.

Tigerland was written because I desperately needed an escape from the real world. Things were pretty tough, and to tell you the truth it still feels that way. I started writing little reunions with Simon and Dec, clichè of clichès, feeling like I was catching up with old friends. It was comforting, being ensconced amongst the old gang and finding out what was happening to them. I thought maybe they would just be a few short stories, but before I knew it a novel was forming.

Both Tigers books were written in the aftermath of life changing events. Should there be a third, I hope its genesis is in lighter circumstances. Yes, Simon is still talking.  But who knows what will come of it?

I just hope Tigerland lives up to it all.

Tigerland Blurb

Hmm, for some reason the blurb isn't in the new edition of Tigers and Devils.

TIGERLAND

After an eventful and sometimes uncomfortably public courtship, Simon Murray and Declan Tyler settled into a comfortable life together. Now retired from the AFL, Declan works as a football commentator; Simon develops programs with queer content for a community television station.

Despite their public professional lives, Simon and Declan manage to keep their private life out of the spotlight. Their major concerns revolve around supporting their friends through infertility and relationship problems—until Greg Heyward, Declan’s ex-partner, outs himself in a transparent bid for attention.

Though Simon and Declan are furious with Greg and his media antics, they can’t agree on what to do about it. Declan insists they should maintain a dignified silence, but both he and Simon keep getting drawn into Heyward’s games. Simon and Declan will once again have to ride out the media storm before they can return their attention to what really matters: each other.
